Image of Bush anemone
Carpentaria californica

Upright, open shrub. Bark is peeling and pale brown in colour. Leaves are ovate, oblong and dark green in colour. Flowers are shaped like cups and are fragranced. The colouring is unique; white flowers with central yellow stamens. These are produced from the upper leaf in early and midsummer. Plant grows to roughly 2m tall (can be taller if it's against a wall) and 2m wide. It is well adapted to wildfire, reproducing by stump sprouts after burning. Natural seedlings are rare.
